“When the men, they’d shoot caribou, my grandma, you know all the ladies, they don’t throw nothing away. Especially the hide. If it's a good hide, they sit and scrape it and they work on it, and when everything is done, they smoke it. And after they smoke it and everything is done, they make moccasins and they chew it down to make a crease. You don’t throw nothing away.”

           Jennifer’s mother holds a baby rattle made from caribou hide. The rattle was given to Jennifer as a gift.
