“Well, the caribou, it’s been important to us from day one. From day one it’s been like that. And then until today until we die, I die, and then the caribou is still going to be important to our kids, their kids, and those people, those kids that still don’t exist yet. That’s why we need to control the caribou. We need to stop the hunting season at the Mackay Lake. Give them a tag, and farm the caribou. We need to be independent. We need to be like the southern people. Farm the caribou, and so this way we create jobs, and we could create jobs for our grandkids so they won’t have the same problem what we went through all these years about caribou. You know? Knowing that too, maybe someone these days, they might build a restaurant so we can have traditional food, cook on the fire. Something like that. You know, we need to do something for our kids today, not tomorrow, starting today. Make a plan for the kids, like I said, we need to farm the caribou. Not only caribou, chickens, vegetables, whatever we eat, we need to farm it. We need to be independent in all four communities.”
