“Last time I’ve been on the land was, I recall, was going with my grandpa, actually. We were going to the end of the lake. There were me, my mom and my grandpa were camping there because we heard it’s some sort of spiritual lake. And then we were camping there for a bit, and then I guess while we were camping there, he saw some caribou, and he wanted to go kill it and he took me along. I think he shot, like, two I believe. He took it back to the camp with us, and then my mom skinned it. First time I seen caribou I didn’t suspect it to be that big. Well, I was small too. And then I was just amazed by how she opened up the guts and everything, skinned it, and then scraped the caribou hide. She did all that and then, I don’t know, from what everyone told me about it, when they eat caribou, their favourite part about eating caribou is the tongue. I don’t know why they say that but I just, I don’t see how that’s a favourite part to eat.”
“My mom first made this when I used to play handgames. You put this on your ankle and it keeps all the bad medicine away. I had this made, and the end is a piece of caribou. Ive had this for almost 8 years now. I only use this during handgames. Last time I didn’t have it and I felt sick and nauseous. I had it blessed by the priest.”
