“Caribou is our food, that’s what we live on, that’s what we were raised on. Right now, the caribou population is going down. We haven’t seen any caribou around the community in how many years? If we want some meat, we gotta go to the mine. Hunting that far away. When we think about it, you know, having no caribou in our community is so hard. If we really want meat we go as far as the mine to shoot caribou. Sometimes if they’re lucky they find something around here.”
