“We have been living here in Gamèti for years and years and years, and one summer we had fires by our cabin, close by here, where the caribou’s food used to be, it all burned. So the caribou has no food to eat. They all go back to the barren lands or wherever. There’s no more caribou in our community. It’s very hard for us now. But that’s what we live on. And it’s even harder for somebody like my husband, you know, he grew up among the caribou. It’s very hard for them. The best thing is maybe leave the caribou, it might go back up, maybe, you never know.”
