“Caribou is important to me because it’s part of our identity as Tłı̨chǫ people. Like, from generation to generation our people depended on caribou for clothing, for food especially. Yeah, its so important for our people because, yeah, it’s been there for generations and there to provide for about anything we can use from caribou. From clothing and the drums, food, moccasins, yeah, it’s really important.”
When Tracella was 10 years old, she scrapped and tanned a caribou hide to make this purse with her mother, who did the beadwork and stitching.
